Antique Limoges NVC Portrait Sugar Bowl Jonquil Yellow & Purple Art Nouveau

Exquisite antique French Limoges sugar bowl by the luxury porcelain maker N.V.C. (Nouvelle Vie de Céramique), produced during the Belle Époque / Art Nouveau era, circa 1895–1910.

This rare example features a beautifully executed hand-fired portrait medallion of a Victorian lady, softly vignetted in blue and set against a rich jonquil (custard yellow) porcelain body with a dramatic mottled royal purple ground. The form is enhanced with applied Rococo handles and retains its original lidded cover with gold-mounted handle.

The jonquil yellow and purple colorway was reserved for top-tier Paris salon wares, chosen specifically to frame portrait decoration without distorting skin tones. These pieces were created as decorative cabinet porcelain, not everyday tableware.
