This exquisite reticulated porcelain compote / cake stand is a fine example of Dresden-decorated porcelain by Carl Thieme, one of the most respected Dresden decorating studios of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The piece features a delicately hand-painted courting couple scene in the Watteau tradition, surrounded by soft floral accents and richly applied raised gold gilding. The intricately pierced reticulated rim and pedestal base highlight the exceptional craftsmanship associated with Carl Thieme’s Dresden decoration.
The underside bears the blue crossed swords with “T” mark, attributed to Carl Thieme, along with a red “Germany” export mark, dating the piece to approximately 1895–1915.
